• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

    L579 Scope ring/mount for 34mm tube, 56mm objective

Since the rings were used when I bought them I don't know the height, they didn't come in the original box. But when I measure and compare with Sako info it seems that my rings are approximately 1.2 mm higher than the low version. However there should be a larger difference in height between low...

    Short Actions Sako L579

There is a conversion kit produced, but it's made out of unobtainium... The major drawback with this mag solution is the limited COL, about 2.730" since the system uses the original mag box to fit the detachable mag inside. The other issue is where to find it and the cost if you find one. I...

Here is a picture, if you look closely you can notice a joint edge close to the "i" in Win.

    L579 / Tikka T3 barrel thread

I've had several Tikka T3 and Sako 75 barrels mounted in one of my L579's. The thread is the same but threaded length is longer on the 75 and I think also on the T3 so you need to rechamber, or have a distance shim/ring installed to "shorten" the thread length. This was done om my latest barrel...

    L579 Scope ring/mount for 34mm tube, 56mm objective

Beware! The ONE rings can't be used with the normal bases in your link. Seems like the 34 mm rings for standard bases are discontinued unfortunately. Try to find used rings, otherwise I don't know of any good solutions for mounting a 34 mm scope on an L579. Good luck!

    L579 Scope ring/mount for 34mm tube, 56mm objective

Sorry for the late reply. The bases are Short version Optilock, the 34 mm rings are 25,7 mm (just over one inch) from top of base to center of ring. I don't have the product numbers but I'm sure you can find them on the web using my info. The clearance between objective (not scope cover) and...

    L579 Scope ring/mount for 34mm tube, 56mm objective

On one of my L579's I have mounted a Delta Stryker 5-50x56 with 34 mm tube, and I used Optilock bases and 34 mm Optilock rings. Note that the 34 mm version of these rings doesn't have the plastic inserts, so I lapped the rings and added surgical tape on the inside. The downside is that the rings...

    Couple of sako

As far as I know, increased main tube diameter has nothing to do with light performance. That is because the erector system is much smaller than the tube diameter. The advantages of larger tube diameter is more travel and increased strength. If you have sources that explains the light advantages...

    My five Sako's

My stockmaker had quite an impressive amount of this walnut, can say that I definetly didn't pick the most expensive ones...but yes, the 375 stock in particular is very nice. In Sweden we don't have that many stockmakers/gunsmiths so I'm lucky to have one just an hour drive from where I live. He...

Showed my L579 308W with custom stock a while ago, but I might as well show all my Sako's together with some info if anyone is interested. So here it goes from top to bottom: Sako L579, Border 6mm Norma BR barrel, laminated stock made by myself including adjustable cheek piece and recoil pad...

The barrel is cut to 45 cm which is minimum legal barrel length for rifles in Sweden. The supressor comes back 8 cm over the barrel and has a total length of 18 cm. Skickat från min ONEPLUS A6003 via Tapatalk

    Calling all customs!

Thanks! Actually it's a design from a benchrest shooter here in Sweden, only for the L579 action. He made a mold and there has been a small number of stocks made out of it, both fiberglass and carbon fiber. I'm very happy to have been able to buy one! The stock came as a blank and I bedded it...

L579 in .308 Win rebarreled with a Krieger stainless barrel, custom made carbon stock with Tikka T3 cheek piece, modified for detachable magazine. At the moment fitted with a Minox ZE5i 2-10x50 in Optilock, and an RCC Carbon 44 Compact silencer. Pic from a moose hunt in northern Sweden last...
