• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Sako 85 Grey Wolf .300 WSM

Follow up post: The hunting season was saved. I wound up using my nephew’s Tikka T3 in .300WSM. My father was keeping it at his house and since my nephew wasn’t planning on using it anytime soon, it was mine to use for the week. On day 4, at about 5:20pm I put it to use. Single shot at about 150...

I don’t know what the firing pin looks like. I have never disassembled a Sako bolt and don’t know how to take a look.

I do hope you are correct on this. But for safety, I will not shoot the rifle again until it has be checked by a gunsmith. As for slight improvement over the .300 Win Mag, I know the it is marginal. Slightly faster, and only inches in drop at 500 yards. I have pored over the ballistics on...

    First Introduction, Second Post

In my other post, I did explain the failure. It was a failure of the brass casing. A hole blew through the brass next to the primer. That backward pressure blew the extractor out of the bolt. I am not sure if there was any damage to the chamber.

Meaning you have devalued the rifle significantly.

    First Introduction, Second Post

Hello everyone. I am new to the forum but a 50 year veteran of Sako rifles. Found this post after I had a potential catastrophic failure of my .270 L61R Finnbear Deluxe over the weekend. I am now looking for a potential replacement and definitely a second hunting rifle. I will most likely look...

Sako 85 Grey Wolf .300 WSM

First time on this forum. Just got lucky to find it. I have been hunting with a Sako L61R Finnbear Deluxe in .270Win since I was about 12 years old. That was 50 years ago. My father was in the Air Force and bought this rifle along with a couple of others to include a 7mm Rem Mag and a .223...
