• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

TRG-s stock paint

Hopefully a simple question: does anyone know what the original textured paint finish on the TRG-s stocks is please?

Also, has anyone ever removed the moulded in floorplate from one of these stocks?

Regards

G

There is no paint on the stock, it is the color of the molded polymer as I can tell. I have several significant scratches in mine and it remains the same material. No paint. I also would like to know what is in the "core". I have read that it is some expanded foam material but I do not know for sure.

I would say that it is painted. I have sanded through it on a stock I repainted. The "flecking" is possible to recreate using various methods (toothbrush and somewhat dried paint for one).

As for the core I can't add any information.

Here is a pic of the floorplate/mag well/bedding block. Not taken by me, so I don't know how much it differs from a "new" one.

I have not done any sanding on mine, but there are scratches that exceed 1/16" on the stock all over and the material appears to be the same polymer as the surface. I will know for sure in a month or so as I am adding a new barrel to one which will require removal of some material.

I thought the core of the stock on the TRG22 was aluminum?
The TRG has two aluminium tubes as support running through the rear stock from the butt pad to the handle, and the main aluminium beam everything bolts on to.
The TRG-s/M995 has no such support that I am aware of or can see. I have not torn one apart to check though.
