• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

On my Sako Finn Bear on top of the reciver , front and rear, there is a grove on either side. Peep sight monuted to the rear. What are they called and can Sako dovetail mounts be attached directly to them like the Peep sight?

They act as mount points for a variety of scope rings and in some case bases ( Sako, Leupold, Optilock, Redfield, Burris, Warne, and Talley to name a few) the older style Sako rings can be mounted directly on them just like the peep sight.

Yes, they are for scope (or peep sight) mounting and are tapered from rear to front. The famous "Sako Tapered Dovetail" is one of the strongest and most versatile scope mounting systems ever devised. However, although very simple in concept, people can come up with novel ways to mount rings on them WRONG, so if you start to mount a scope be sure to read through the many threads on how to properly mount each type of ring made for them.

The other knucklehead move is to somehow believe it’s reasonable to drill and tap the top of the dovetails to somehow provide an extra measure of stability. The design does not need anymore stability because of the ingenious taper which will in some cases (depending on ringmount selection) further tightens the ring set simply by firing the rifle.

And the three previous posts tell you all you need to follow to properly mount scopes to Sako rifles. Sakojim.
