I've always thought Browning made high quality firearms but until I joined this forum I didn't know they had used Sako actions on some of their rifles.

Welcome Four4. Your Sako action Browning is certainly welcome here. We even have a section titled Other Firearms Built on Sako Actions where you might be surprised by the number of members interested in the numerous other rifles made on Sako actions. Post a few pictures of your 308 and tell us a little about it.

And their corporate headquarters is located 63 miles up the road, in Mountain Green, Utah.
The same is true of famous brands like Weatherby and Charles Daly. Even manufacturers like Remington often market guns made by others, like the Remington 798 and 799, made by Zastava. And as far as I know, "Winchester" hasn't had an actual firearms manufacturing facility for many years. Proprietary guns built by contractors have been sold under the name of large retailers like Sears (or their brand J.C. Higgins), Wards, and others for many years.Browning never had a manufacturing plant & never made anything. . . . .Brand names are just marketing tools anymore & the manufacturing of firearms is becoming more consolidated into fewer & fewer hands.
