• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Now I need a new quality gunsmith

Well, I ask the gunsmith I been working with for the last several months what it would cost for him to thread and chamber a 221 Fireball barrel on my L461 action and he replied that he didn't have a Fireball reamer and he only works on custom builds <sigh>.

So I'm looking for some recommendations for a quality gunsmith. Mostly for barrel work but can/is happy to take all kinds of rifle work.

Anyone got a favorite smith that does quality work for a reasonable price? I'm more concerned about the quality than the cost. I've had some smiths do work that functioned correctly of but looked terrible. I don't want to repeat that experience.

Thanks

Dennis Olson (406)826-3790 in Plains, Montana can do anything you want with any kind of rifle. He is priced very fair and his work is exceptional. He has done work for Rocky here on the Sako collectors site, he can vouch for Dennis. He built these 4 rifles for me...

So Dennis does general gunsmithing as well as build custom rifles? Great news!

I'll get him to do a couple of things for me before I have him start on my custom rifle.

Thanks Kirk

Like Kirk said Dennis is good and his turn around time if great.

For the gunsmithing I need done Dennis will be the perfect fit. As soon as I finish nailing down a few more details I'll send him my action and we'll be off to the races (finally :)).
