• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

L57 bolt trouble

Sako Collectors Club Discussion Forum

I recently was given an L57 Sako in .308 by a friend who found it at his job in a recycle plant. I know nothing about these rifles but he doesn’t own any firearms and gave me a call to see if I wanted it. When he gave it to me it was in pretty rough shape, so I took it apart and cleaned it as I was cleaning it the firing pin somehow activated on the bolt and and took me forever to get apart. Now that I have it apart I can’t get it back together and was looking for some advice

There are threads here on disassembly/assembly of the L46 bolt, which is the same as the L57 bolt only smaller. Just do a search. I think you can also find help on the internet by searching disassembly of L46 Sako bolt.

harder to explain than to do......I hope this helps.
Get a workbench with a gun matt that has some cushioning.
Insert the firing pin assembly into the bolt body making sure to align the little metal lug on the assembly with the cutout on the bolt body.
push the back of the firing pin assembly into the bolt body - this is where the gunmatt comes in....bolt face on the matt and lean into the bolt with your weight to compress the pin spring
once the assembly "bottoms out" at the end/top of the bolt body, turn the assembly clockwise until it hits the recess and rests in place.

leverage is key here, unless you have some superman hands and can do it that way. I could when I was younger, but 30 years as a desk jockey now I'm wimpy.

good luck,
DeerGoose
