• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

I recently bought an M995 in 270 with little work after some great advice on this forum and love it! My first shots with it showed me just how accurate these things are but also showed me it’s got a problem which I think to be the factory synthetic stock being too soft and touching the barrel and action giving me fliers. Has anyone bedded their stock with plastic epoxy and/or stiffened the forend up to eliminate these fliers? Or have people bitten the bullet and put new stocks on their rifles?

I have a Sako M995 in 6.5 Swede. The stock clears the barrel fully and is not flexing that I can tell. Are you using a bipod and putting a lot of forward pressure on it?

Another thing is when you disassemble the TRG action from the stock and put it together again it's important to pay attention to seating the recoil lug. Basically, the lug is in the stock and fits into a slot into the bottom of the action. When you assemble the rifle, put the butt stock on the bench, then pull the action downwards towards the rear when tightening the action screws. This will ensure the lug is secure and won't shift under recoil.

Otherwise I shoot the TRG-22 in 308/260, TRG-42 in 338LM, and TRG-S in 6.5 Swede and they are all outstanding accuracy and require no bedding or other modifications to the stock.
 
I concur, that the system is completely full floated on the barrel. I used to get a few fliers when I first started, like every 4th shot. This settled down after working on bullet seating depth in my hand loads and after about 100 shots fired through the rifle. Mine is very finicky about seating depth.
