• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Sako Latest AV in 30-06

Been away from collecting sakos for a few years, but jumped back in yesterday at a gun show.
Was walking around with a Browning BAR 22 when I was approached by a gentleman carrying a beautiful AV Hunter in 30-06. He said he bought it new in the mid 80s, put it in his safe and there it sat for about 35 years. Due to the absence of any wear marks in the action, muzzle, bolt, pristine scope bases, etc. I believed him when he told me he’d never fired it. A swap, a handshake and home with me she went. Definitely above average wood for a Hunter.

Nice, great rifle and calibre, I have one, only in more used condition as I use it for Hunting.
Is that the original but pad?
Mine’s more to a red colour.
Hope you get out and enjoy it.

Thanks
Good catch

That’s the mystery. The entire rifle is pristine, except the recoil pad was changed - likely unfired outside the factory . Luckily the stock has not been altered. I used the recoil pad to get the seller to knock off $250. I have a spare, but since it will be hunted with it really doesn’t bother me.

Hi Sakolou......
Well.....you really got a good deal.
Great rifle to carry and Hunt with.
Keep us posted on the set up.
What do you Hunt in California?

Thanks!
I’ve since escaped CA and am a NV resident. I primarily hunt deer, elk, antelope, coyotes, various birds, etc.
