• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Welcome Jody and congratulations for your new acquisition!

TRG-S M995 in 7mm RM is a great rifle for long range hunting - add a good bipod, Sako Opti-Lock mounts & quality glass and you're good to go.
Good bullet choices would be 150 gr Swift Scirocco and 139 grain Barnes LRX, among others.
The M995 action will handle cartridges up to 3.74" COAL and your rifle should have a 24.5" barrel with 1:9.5" twist, so using newer VLD hunting bullets is an option as well.

Here's a link to the M995 user manual in case you don't have one yet:

The magazine used in the TRGs/M995 for the 7mm mag through the .375 H&H is only about 3.65" in length. Those made for the .30-378 WBY or other extra long cartridges may be about a tenth of an inch longer. Regardless, with a case length of only 2.50 inches, you can set a bullet out a long way (usually as long as the lands will allow) in a 7mm Mag TRGs.

Stonecreek, I have to respectfully disagree on the measurements:

Inside of the magazine measures ~ 3.74"
Follower measures ~ 3.68"

I own a couple of these rifles as well and in my experience 3.74" (95 mm) COAL will feed and function (as long as the cartridge will chamber of course).

Photos are of a 95-2 marked magazine, which are the type that comes with M995 rifles chambered for cartridges that are based on the .375 H&H , including 7mm Remington Magnum.

Jody,

barrel twist for 7mm RM M995 is 1:9.5"
