• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Cool! I've never seen a receiver marked with "Oy Sako Ab" over the "Rihiimaki". (However, just because "I've never seen it" doesn't mean there aren't lots of them out there.)

Can you get ammunition or components for it in Norway?

Yes, ammunition is no problem. But more difficult to get the bullets. I was lucky and got 300 bullets from a "privat". I will try to buy from Finland.

Stone, must be the earlier ones that are stamped that way. Mine has it (#2663), and also a gas vent through the second "i" in Rihimaki.
Norway.375, is your magazine stamped 7x33?

Just as a sidebar for everyone's info, Oy (Osakeyhtiö) and Ab (Aktiebolag) are the Finnish and Swedish abbreviations for "share company," the equivalent of "Incorporated." In Finland, both Finnish and Swedish are official languages, and many signs and other forms of information are bilingual. Most English speakers would find "yhtiö" (company) virtually unpronounceable.

Right you are, Iceberg. I've seen the Sako company often represented as "Oy Sako AB", just that I've not seen it before stamped on a receiver. I checked my oldest L46 (SN in the 5,000's) and found only "Rihiimaki" and the serial number. Unlike BSmith's rifle, the "Rihiimaki" is located above the vent hole.

When you compare several of these early L-46's you'll find numerous small variations in their configurations and markings. Each Sako rifle from the 1940's was a nearly unique item.
