• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Introduction

Sako Collectors Club Discussion Forum

Welcome, and tell us more. I assume you hunt with your Sakos, so we'd all be interested to hear.

Thank you! Yes, it's the only rifles I hunt with. My 375 I use mainly for bushveld, (it's more bushy terrain with relative short shooting distances, 30 yards to 160 yards) whilst the 7mm Rem Mag is for plains game, although I have used the 7mm in the bush as well. It's powerful enough to take all our antelope species, but shot placement is very important, espesially on the tougher animals like Wildebeest and Oryx! I have taken even Eland, which is our largest antelope with the 7mm at about 100 yards with a head shot. I love my Sako's and will exchange them for nothing. (I'll rather buy newer model Sako's and add to my collection - although with these to calibers, there is no animal on this planet that won't end up on the dinner plate!)

Roger that Vernon, the .375 will do anything you want! Had a great time hunting in your country a few years ago. If you run across my PH Clint Taylor, tell him Jeff Schrock says hi!

Good to hear that Jeff. If ever I do (and I remember) I will for sure! Maybe one day I will be able to visit your country as well and do some hunting. Must admit, Alaska has always been a dream to visit and do some hunting.

Hi all I am Navin from India and I have just bought my self a Sako L597 Forrester in .308.
Would like to learn from the group more about the L597

Welcome Navin! You have attached your introduction to Vernon Bronkhorst's intro thread. To start your own intro, click on the "new members" section & then click on "post new thread" in the upper right. Title your thread & say Hi! Much better chance of members seeing that you have joined. Read through some of the threads in the Sako Medium Action section to learn about your L579.

Hi Vernon

Good to see you on the forum. One of my rifles is also a 7 mm Rem Mag - an absolute gem of a rifle.
