• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Hello y’all my name is Lee I have Inherited a Sako. The only thing I know about it is the last time it was shot was just over 32 years ago it’s still in original box (I’ll ad pics).
I can tell you it is a Sako cal.270 win AV 605729. I believe my mother was the first owner only shot it once. I’ve never got into hunting or hunting rifles so I really don’t know what I’m looking at Besides the gibberish on the Internet.
After hours of researching the net it was probably made in the mid-80s.

I would like to know what you guyswould do in my situation. should I keep it because value is going up and if I do that I’m putting it back in its box and is going back in the closet for who knows how many years.

Don’t get me wrong the gun it’s absolutely beautiful and of course it was my moms even though she only shot at one time that I really have no connection to it if someone could please show me some advice I would appreciate it.

I’ve never seen or fired a 270 Or a sako in that matterI have a 40 Cal 357 and 44. I love my handguns but I do not hunt or have any care too, The box of ammo you see is the one box I bought just to have a box of ammo for a gun I just received. I thought my 44 mag with a monster

Is this a gun worth to store back in the closet because of potential value increase OR should I pursue to find a Potential owner that will use the gun for what it was built for.

I would like just a little guidance don’t want to make the wrong decision I thought this would be the place to throw the question out there

A Sako AV in 270 Win doesn't have much, if any, collector value nor would any small amount of appreciation it would accrue sitting in a closet keep up with inflation, IMHO. It would make a nice hunting rifle for someone who appreciates quality rifles, however. If you check on the gun sale/auction sites you will find comparable rifles & their asking prices. AV's in 270, depending on a host of factors, can bring in the neighborhood of $1000. What yours will bring will depend on the willingness of a buyer & your willingness to sell.

Exactly what Paulson said. You can't expect non-collector firearms to rise in value as much as inflation, which is why used Sakos like yours are such a bargain for shooters and hunters as compared to new ones. Keep in mind that the $1,000 which Paulson mentioned is a retail figure. Person-to-person sales go for somewhat less, and person-to-dealer sales go for even less than that.
