Hello there from beautiful sunny Portland, Oregon!! Just scored a beautiful early-80's AII in .308, and fitted a newer VX-3 Leupold scope with Sako S1701904 Ring Mounts. Nice high cheek piece fits me like a glove. Going to sight it in and shoot some groups this weekend. Thank you all for the wisdom and good reading! - Jim

@wombat, I found it via Cabela's Gun Library search. For $25 they will transfer any firearm to another store for you to check out. If you buy it you also have 10-days to return it if it's not up to snuff. Not a bad arrangement for an almost 40 year old, $1000 rifle purchase.

First groups were very acceptable. Getting used to the trigger and my rent-a-bench was wobbly, but still managed to get within MOA at 100 yds.

Whenever factory loads will group under an inch in a .30 caliber you've got a very accurate rifle. Congratulations! You can enjoy your Sako A-II for the rest of your life (and that of your grandchildren, for that matter!)
