• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

I am new member. Have a Sako L461 in 30*06 (Serial 915xxx) mfg in 1970 and a Sako Riihimaki 222 (Serial 21xxx). mfg by Marlin in a partnership with Sako in late 50s. Both are in excellent condition, but not collectable - I use them all the time. I appreciate any info (particularly the 222).

If it's a 30-06 is has to be a L61R, not a L461. The Marlins were built by Marlin using Sako actions & I don't believe there was any formal "partnership". They made two models, a 322 & a 422 Varmint King. The 422 had a stainless barrel, that was made to look blued, in response to a problem with barrel life with the 322's Microgroove CM steel barrel. There were less than 400 422's made. Not sure how many 322's were made but it probably wasn't a huge number. A few thousand, I'm guessing.

Welcome to SCC!

Please post a few pics of them as we do love pics!

Nice rifles, both of them, and I second what Paulson says.

Stonecreek will know more as he is well educated about Marlins and other brands.

Enjoy our forum!
