• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

At an upcoming auction they have listed a "Sako Riihimaki with a Marlin 322 barrel". I did some reading on this item and some believe the button rifled barrels by Marlin didn't last. This is an L46 action and as I understand it thats the only part of the gun thats Sako? Do these have any collector value or would I be purchasing it just for the aciton, My thinking is in the $500 to $600 range, although the way guns have been going at sales lately it could go much higher.

pahoghumter,
Not sure about this as a factory setup from Riihimaki. My thought it it could be re-barreled on the L46 action. I don't like button rifled barrels myself, and once had a Marlin 336C with the micro-grove barrel that I shot a lot and it lost it's mystique quickly with me.
As a collector value, there is no real collector market in Sako. It's more of a cult at the moment, but when they hit their 100th Anniversary things will change, I'm sure. At present, it seems like they hold value, and some increase as the years go by.
You happen to have any pictures, or is it just listed at the moment? Look it over carefully before you bid.
