• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

I have a Sako I bought from an estate. I'm trying to determine a model number or name so I can determine the age and learn more about it's history. The markings on the barrel are:
Sako Rihimaki 8292
Made in Finland
222 Rem.
I could not make a connection with this information in the Sako websight. I'm wondering if it is a "vixen", etc. Any history and information on this model would be appreciated.
Thank you, Ned

Hello Ned,
Welcome to the forum. I have a rifle like yours, 4 digit serial, and also a .222. No doubt it has a squared bolt end with the lever "wing" safety on the right side? I would say what you have there is an L46 probably made in about 1952-ish. Does it have a heavy barrel? Maybe you could upload a photo? That would narrow it down more.
If the rifle is in good condition you will enjoy shooting the .222.
Welcome Aboard,

Thank you for your reply and the welcome. I appreciate it. I look forward to learning more about this rifle. It is in good shape. It appears to not have a "heavy" barrel ... it measures .56 of an inch in diameter, I can't figure out how to upload pictures ... can I use the upload files or the insert images? What is the maximum size for a photo. Where can I find a "guide" on the
Also, I am hoping you can help me understand the "sighting" device which is attached. The front site is hooded. The rear looks like a "Peep" style sight. There is a dial which can be set at 100 or 200. I assume this is yards. I could not find a name on it. Did it come from the factory? Can you enlighten me on how this works?
I'll upload the pictures once I know how. I'll continue to experiment
Thank you very much,
Ned
