• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

How to replace Sako recoil pad

Hello everybody, just got the new sako 85 classic 375. The recoil pad seems pretty hard and I want to replace it
with Limbsaver recoil pad. Seems the Limbsaver recoil pad for Tikka fit perfectly on my sako 85. But I just can't
find the screw that hold the existing pad. Did anybody ever change the sako factory recoil pad? Thanks

Thanks my friend. Are you saying the pad is glued on to spacer, then the spacer is screwed to the wood stock with steel guide pin? Any suggestion on how to take it off?

No screws involved. The black "spacer" is integral part of the pad. It's all glued to the wood. There are mild steel pins in the spots where you'd put the screws on other pads, total of two. The pins are just for alignment, not for fastening anything. You can try to pry the pad in hopes that the glue gives at the seam between the wood and the black section. It's very likely that the pad isn't coming off in one piece.

Thanks a million!. I guess I will just try a slip-on recoil pad first. I am afraid I would damage my sako stock if I pry the pad.
