• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Coltsman (L46) Round Top Scope Bases

All,

For those that own the Coltsman L-46 with the round top action, I have been looking for bases that were something other than the Weaver bases. I was trying different bases last night and found that Remington 541 bases fit the L-46 action, have not tried them on my L-579 Coltsman rifles yet.

So there are bases other than Weaver that will fit, I have been searching not sure if someone already discovered this or not.

I believe that Leupold still offers "blank" bases for the turn-in Redfield-type rings. These can be drilled to fit your rifle's action holes with very little trouble.

If you have Weaver-type bases I've found the Burris Z-rings to be very attractive and serviceable. The Millett Angle-loc ring is also a good ring to use on the Weaver bases and is windage adjustable, but in its "low" height it sits somewhat higher than the "low" Burris Z-ring.

Good to know.

The only issue with the Remington 541 bases is on the rear base, I had to shave a little off the corner so the bolt could cam into position, other than that they fit good and look much better than the Weaver Bases and Rings.
