Hey All!
Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board.
They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things.
The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to.
DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES!
They often state something like this:
”Hello!
Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]”
If you receive any strange messages:
Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not.
Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out!
Beware of anything that might seem fishy!
And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username.
You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our!
All the best! And be safe!
Jim
Seems everyone is asking, but nobody has the answer. I scratched my 22-250 Forester stock when it fell over in my gun room. Through the finish and into the grain... sad, but true... So this stock is one of the Garcia "STICKY" finishes. And so I'd like to refinish it with an oil finish. I...
I have a 22-250 Garcia vintage L579 that has a scratch in the side of the stock. Trying to decide whether to leave it alone, refinish it, or just sell it and look for a Pre-Garcia 22-250 sporter. or deluxe sporter.
Anyone
I'm going to try these loads in the L46. I understand that it has a 1:15.8 twist. May only shoot light bullets well. I have two 461's and a Rem 660 that shoots 222 as well. All will be evaluated eventually.
Have another 222 Remington. A Remington 660 with a 20" barrel. Not sure what the twist is. Maybe will measure it myself. I'd hope it was 1:12. You can see the entire photo story at http://24.172.105.90/z/660 I went through some changes with this little gun. Finally got the trigger...
This "Garcia" import is missing many of the icky Garcia traits I hated. Good stock finish, no button on bolt cap. Front sight hood is different, and NO Bofors markings on barrel. but I bet you it shoots.
The extended rings won't work for me... so if anyone needs some... these are NEW... not...
I have a set of NEAR NEW extended rings that I'd like to trade for a set of NEW or NEAR NEW HIGH vintage rings. Ok, I'll give ya that there's a minor screwdriver slip on 2 screws. Call or write David 252 648-0231 or [email protected] I thought these were going to be needed, but aren't. I also...
I'd imagine like any business that is purchased or bought out... migration is gradual. Changing the laser markings on the underside of the barrel is relatively easy... and may be a requirement of importation. However you are correct in that some of if not all of the changes were made over...
Find me a Bofors with white outline pistol grip cap... minty only of course... Is there any other kind.
For the time being I'm happy with this Garcia. Mainly because it doesn't look like a Garcia.
I always look for certain SAKO models in certain calibers. Trying to acquire the ones I like in the exact stock configuration I like (white outline pistol grip cap w/Bofors Steel barrels). My preference for Bofors is not only the marking but the steel, and the contour. The Bofors barrels were...
I just landed a L61R in 338 Win Mag with a Multi-Groove barrel. Looks unfired to me. Not any signs of wear from operating the action. Have a look ->

If you look at my collection http://24.172.105.90/guns/sakos/ and especially at the Deluxe Forester (early gun) and the Finnbear 7mm Mag you'll see two distinctly different pad waffle patterns. The 7 Mag seems to look more like the ones pictured above.
The whole FACTORY PAD episode is...
The REAL pads ARE available for $129 ea. + installation cost ? Is it worth it to have the words Riihimaki on it? Maybe... ? I figure it would cost me over $800 to replace the ones I need to with original factory pads.
Personally I have used the rifles with the collapsed pads and they shoot just fine... I buy SAKO rifles because they are accurate and made better than most of the alternatives. If I could replace the 4 or 5 pads including installation for $150 each, I'd consider it. I've gone to storing my...
I don't know about you, but I use a professional gunsmith shop with a proven reputation for great workmanship. I hear you about the value being lower for after market pads, but quite frankly I don't plan on selling my SAKO collection, but will pass it on to my daughter who runs a Pawn Shop and...
Taking a look at my collection http://24.172.105.90/guns/sakos/ only the rifles without any pad have a white outline spacer for the butt plate. All of the others with pads... most all are pre-garcia early as indicated by white outline pistol grip cap... have black spacers. For the $100...
Fact is that the factory found a bunch of these that had been stored, and he bought a lot of them. No one knows if he bought all or just a bunch. Even with cost of shipping from Finland and a nice markup, I can't imagine ripping people off for the price he's asking. If I could find someone...
Thank you for the comments, and advice. I'll consider the Pachmayr But may just bite the bullet and order 4 of the Sako pads from the money hungry guy.
I am considering getting a good cast bullet for 338, I have a bunch of line-0-type metal and a Lyman lubrasizer. So it wouldn't cost me an...
