• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

The only Sako I have, the only bolt action I have, is a 300 win mag. I love it. Prior to that I had a M995 in .338 mag. Loved that one. Decided to keep with Sakos as they have been the most precise and beautiful gun I have ever held in my hands. Of course shooting a 300 Win Mag a couple of hundred rounds a day will lead to shoulder dislocation and an empty wallet. I want something that is lighter, cheaper and still fun. I see a lot of older .222s but not many .223s. What do you suggest? Go for the .222 which I am not familiar with or the .223 which is one I am familiar with having a bunch of AR 15s. I hear the .222 is extremely accurate. Should I hold out for a .223 or go with the slightly more expensive to shoot but accurate .222?

222 in Sako Vixen = perfection IMO. Had and have several all of which were superb shooters. But if you have all the gear for the 223 already then that may make a difference to your choice, based on dollars. But otherwise you will be more than fine with the 222. good luck.

As far as ballistic performance, flip a coin. Accuracy is probably more to do with the individual rifle than the cartridge as both shoot very well. If you don't reload the 223 offers more selection & economy in ammo. I have both (I do reload) & I tend to favor the 222, but my 223 shoots bug hole groups. Have I confused you even more? It's a tough choice, but one you can't go wrong with either way.

With ARs already on hand, go with the 223 (I have a beautiful one!) but don't shoot the milsurp stuff in it! She's a classy lady that deserves better than being paraded around in an old dirty jalopy!
