• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Custom Sako L42 7x33 for sale in Aus

Sako Collectors Club Discussion Forum

Hi Marcus

That's an L46. From the bolt handle shape probably around the 5000 serial number range.
Interesting as it means there is at least one other 7x33 reamer in Australia!

Ad has a lot of inaccuracies, mounts are the much later optilocks! It's also listed as a L461!

Any idea what it sold for?

Cheers John

Also you shouldn't have 'L42 for sale' in any subject line under any circumstances - it will give one of the guys a heart attack! :D No ones ever seen one! Let alone one for sale.

Thanks for posting.

Cheers John

Five digit serial no., no more pics available according to seller.
Wants the world for it.
Buyer beware.

I'm glad you guys have the knowledge to clarify these things - I wouldnt have the first clue of differences between an L42 and an L46. From memory the model designation is not marked on the receiver of these early models, unlike the later L461s and A1s?

I assume you also saw the L46 .222 that sold yesterday for $650? Seemed to be quite clean.

Had seen a fair bit of use, different barrel and butchered, also had a cracked stock that was repaired. Worth it just for parts. photo 1.JPG

I thought Leupold was pretty unhinged when they built their (failed) line of scopes with the divot out of the bottom of the objective to accommodate the barrel hump. It is a bit more unhinged to take a divot out of the barrel to accommodate the scope.

I Didn't buy it , bit too radical for me , would have saved some time and considerable effort by using a set of higher mounts.

Have seen all sorts of Sako's 'Improved' with the skillful art of angle grinder fitment!
The Worst case in my eyes, was a L469 sporter, otherwise in very good condition.

We all forget the amount that fox skins bought in the 70's here in Aust.
Many a shooter paid their house off shooting for skins.
The perfect match of a Sako L46/L461 and a 'must have' Kahles 8x56 made good sense. The Kahles brightened their eyes and made the foxes easier targets.
Just a shame Hilver did not sell their 'very high' mounts a little cheaper!

I just had a look and the rifle is no longer sold!
I wonder what turned the buyer away,
Reading the add, it is the earliest L461 ever made!
What a beauty to say the least.
