• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

Missing internal box magazine

I just bought a 25-06 L61 from around 1970 and, upon disassembly, I discovered it's missing the internal box mag.

Did Sako sell any rifles without the steel liner?

When I look closely at the wood that normally houses the magazine liner, it appears to be beveled as if to shape it to better feed a stack of cartridges.. I.e. The front of it is not routed out as much as the back since the bullet tips are more streamlined and need less space.

I never noticed this before...

Thanks guys,

Phil

No, your L61R has been disassembled and put back together without its magazine box. Some other rifles are made without a box, and your Sako might feed that way, but you need to find a replacement.

Yes thanks... I'll send you a PM..

Since then I've bought another 25-06 (AV)...

So, 50 years w/out a quarter bore and now I have 2.
Damn, they shoot flat..!

Hi PC I have one if you are still looking.
Hi, I recently bought my first Sako. It is just the action L61R no screws, trigger, barrel, mag box, spring, or follower, or floor plate/trigger guard.
My intention is to build a heavy barrel 300 Win Mag.
Any chance you have another box or any of these parts? Or maybe know where to look?
I can get an after market trigger, I have a barrel, I can make due without the trigger guard and floor plate, but I need a spring and follower and the box mag.
Thanks Craig
