• Hey All! Lately there has been more and more scammers on the forum board. They register and replies to members requests for guns and/or parts or other things. The reply contains a gmail or hotmail address or similar ”anonymous” email addresses which they want you to reply to. DO NOT ANSWER ANY STRANGE MESSAGES! They often state something like this: ”Hello! Saw your post about purchasing a stock for a Safari. KnuckleheadBob has one. Email him at: [email protected]” If you receive any strange messages: Check the status of whoever message you. If they have no posts and signed up the same day or very recently, stay away. Same goes for other members they might refer to. Check them too and if they are long standing members, PM them and ask if the message is legit. Most likely it’s not. Then use the report function in each message or post so I can kick them out! Beware of anything that might seem fishy! And again, for all of you who registered your personal name as username, please contact me so I can change it to a more anonymous username. You’d be surprised of how much one can find out about a person from just a username on a forum such ad our! All the best! And be safe! Jim

I am looking for a replacement stock for my L46 in 222. This is a mag fed rifle. The rifle has an after market stock on it and looks terrible. This is the rifle that a wonderful person donated a bolt for. Thanks for your help! Gary

Just to be clear,
There are many stock types for the L46
Will need to know the approx serial number and some photos to see the barrel profile and ejector type

Just had a quick look at your photos,
You have the first type L46 .222 barrel taper and ejector mounting plate, the later stocks had a smaller plate, and slightly larger barrel profile.
I am thinking, originally your rifle had the full pancake, cheek piece, sporter stock,
These are a real tough find, to have a new replacement made will be over $1000, and finding a donor rifle will cost the same or more.
I am having a new one made for one of my 25-20's, a tough decision, but its done now.

The stock you have looks pretty nice from what little I see. A checkering job would enhance it. There are stocks advertised on Guns International as exact Sako duplicates by an outfit called Custom Shop LLC. From the pics they look VERY nice. After you get on GI, get on "rifles", then click on Sako, then search Sako stocks. Pics of the deluxe looks just like a factory & even has the Sako butt pad. Available for all the L & A series Sakos. I have an old beater aftermarket stock for the L46/469 that I had duplicated by Rob Bose of Bose's Gun Shop, Emerson, Ne. He made a beautiful stock for me fully checkered for under $700. I did the finish. If interested in borrowing this stock for duplication PM me.

Thanks everyone for the help. Seeing how this rifle will never be completely original because of the replacement bolt, I think that I will try to enhance the stock and just enjoy the rifle. First shooting with ballistic tips and a poor 6x scope gave me three shot 3/4" groups. Might be a keeper! L-46, there are two L 46 Sako's for sale now with the pancake stock that you describe. Very nice and different. I might have to buy one just to have a complete original. Thanks all again! Gary
